First United Methodist Church of Stuart has partnered for several years with area agencies to provide a Prison Ministry for Teen Girls. Steadfast Ministries, which is sponsored and coordinated by Van Dyke (United Methodist Church) in Lutz, Florida helps prepare and equip volunteers.  

 

Our Mission is to provide youth in residential commitment and into the community with caring adult mentors for consistent friendship, encouragement, guidance, and concrete help, as an on-going ministry of Jesus Christ.  We share the love of Christ through word and action.

The core program provides a weekly Bible Study, Grief Support Group, and Mentoring.

Steadfast Ministries...

• Is A Bridge from Commitment to Community

Steadfast mentoring program is a “Bridge” for youth transitioning from residential commitment  facilities – back to their homes and communities- with a goal of reducing recidivism and helping the youth succeed.

• Participates with The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice 

The juvenile residential facilities that Steadfast participates with are through the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. Steadfast only serves in long term residential facilities and not short term detention centers

• Provides nurturing adult mentoring services

Most of our youth seldom if ever get a visitor, a letter, or a phone call throughout their incarceration.  Many of our youth are also from the foster care system.  Life beyond the razor wire is just as uncertain. A loving, committed mentor can make a huge impact in the life of a hurting and lonely child.

• Is Committed to making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth

Current juvenile recidivism is at 58% of youth that will re-offend within the first 3 months of release.              

Mentoring is proven to help reduce these numbers, and greatly increase the chance of a youth succeeding.        

 It is the heart of Steadfast to be a light in an otherwise - very dark world  - for these children!
